What did you like least about the race: (126)

Aid stations — water vs Gatorade. Never really knew what you were getting. Maybe always have water on right, Gatorade on left.

Aid stations, not knowing what I would get and when

All the top winners take all the prizes, how about taking them out of the age categories so some others can get recognized for their hard work too?

Awards are duplicated.

Awards based on # in category. I beat the 5th place that was awarded in the age 5 less than mine but since our depth was less awards were only 2 deep. I mention this since you asked but it is not a major concern.

Being from Texas the elevation

Can’t say anything bad. Great organization and support.

Can’t think of anything that wasn’t OK

Congestion at the beginning of the race.

Cramping up today

Downhill

Downhill falling

Drink coordination/communication at the aid stations. It was very unclear where water versus Gatorade was at a majority of the aid stations. I got water once when I wanted Gatorade and vice versa at another. The high school kids are great but it would be VERY helpful to brief them on making it clear what is what. Water at the front, Gatorade at the rear; water on the right, Gatorade on the left; etc.

Everything was perfect for that size race

Falling on the way down

Falling twice on the ascent

Falling with a little less than a mile to go : ) Plus trying to get around people at the beginning.

Falling!!!

Finish area was very crowded. The extra tent didn’t help much with the shade since the sun was still at such a low angle.

Finish was cramped

Getting it over with

Going uphill!! Foing uphill!!

Half of it was up hill

Heat

Heat and I was too tired

High Level Race Organizers, We have to complete this survey to see results Yuck, Too Formal

Hikers along the trail that seemed not to yield to the runners.

Hurting from the downhill

Hydro Street!

I blew my ankle

I cannot say anything negative about the race.

I did not like waiting to use the bathroom before the start of the race.

I didn’t win the kickbike.

I fell 1 mile down from Barr Camp, earning me the Bloodiest Runner award.

I know we can’t keep hikers off the trail on race day, but is there any kind of a way we can get the word out that it might not be the best day to hike the peak. Groups of three or four hikers is no big deal, but I imagine it could get a bit dicey if we had one of those huge camp groups of like 30 to 50 people.

I twisted my knee and had to walk the last mile

I will now be expecting more from the other races I do but don’t expect that I will get it...

I’m sure parking is always the major issue this race deals with. I didn’t have any problems because I scored a parking spot at Soda Springs Park this year. Got up earlier! I think it is necessary in order to continue the good relationship between the Cog Railroad and BMTR to accomplish the following for next year, if this has not already been done: Get Manitou Springs to not start marking cars for parking violations until 12:00 P.M. This allows the majority of racers to get back to their vehicles on time and enjoy the race ceremonies

It has to be that damn hill at the end!

It hurt — inadequate training.

It would have been nice if the bathrooms at Soda Springs Park were open.

It’s awfully crowded at the start, but I can’t think of any good way (waves, fewer slots) that would solve it. I guess that’s just part of trail racing.

Just a little confused on exactly where the finish line was.

Lack of directional help at the point where the course leaves Barr Trail. An arrow on the ground would have been appreciated.

Liked it all

Many runners were rude and arrogant ... especially the top finishers

Matt Carpenter shaking everybody’s hand at he finish.

Missed gel at Barr Camp

My finish time.

My knee started hurting on the way down and I couldn’t run as fast as I wanted to.

My knees

My leg cramps.

My slow time

My tired legs going up the hill

No complaints

No complaints whatsoever. It doesn’t get better than this!

None

Not enough porta potties. The porta potty company will give you sufficient units for a normal crowd of 400 folks where only a few folks go at a time. A racing individual must go several times before the race and you need many more porta potties.

Not enough porto-let toilets. It was a really big problem having eight restrooms for 400 people.

Not enough restrooms (since park ones were closed)

Not having access to bathrooms where you pick up your packet.

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing except my severe calf cramps on the way down, really made me feel wimpy.

Nothing not to like this year

Nothing specific

Parking

Personally, I was OK without a porta-potty at the start but the lines looked pretty long for those who did need one

Rocks/roots on the course and high humidity at the start. Seriously, I can’t think of anything that struck me as significant enough to change.

Rude runners that would not let you pass them

Runners that don’t wash their clothes and stink.

Runners turning into walkers 100 yards from the start

Snotty women

Some downhill parts

Some runners not yielding to runners downhill

Standing in line for 30 minutes to poop.

Suffering for 2:05

Taking so long to finish.

That folks trashed the trail somewhat by not hanging onto their used gel packets.

That I didn’t win anything.

That really big hill!? no, really...nothing it was a well run race!

The beginning of the race...its hard to get around people on the trail

The blisters

The blisters on my feet at the end

The challenge

The challenge.

The clogged trail up to the top of the W’s.

The crowd for the first two miles

The crowded beginning and lack of running etiquette!

The crowded start

The crowding at the beginning.

The crowding on the trail for the first 6 miles.

The down hill was very tough.

The downhill, there seemed to be a lot of bloody knees, but there were no shortage of rescue people on the trail.

The fact that the steepest incline is 50M from the start but that’s not your problem

The finish going up Hydro Street!

The finish line setup — love the last little uphill on hydro- perfect

The finish line was too cramped

The first three miles.

The first two miles, but that is only because they were really hard

The gravel on the paved road at the finish, slippery

The heat, which you can’t control.

The humidity. haha

The organization at the beginning. I was looking for a place to store my bag so that it would meet me at the finish line but I couldn’t get an answer where to put it until 10 min prior to race time

The runner that was taking a leak 1 foot from the trail.

The torturous hill at the finish

The uphill

The walk back to the car

The way my legs feel today.

The way my legs felt on the way down :-)

There was this one girl who went down near the top because of a cramp in her gastroc or soleus, no one was stopping to help her, so I stopped and stretched it out. I do not think that it would have been this way had there not been a time to shoot for. She kept telling me to “run your race,” and I kept telling her, “breath deeply.” What a shame. By the way, is she alright? I did not see her at the bottom anywhere?

There’s nothing not to like.

To bunched up at the beginning of the race

Too much congestion at the finish line — finishing up the hill, I was very out of breath and there was no room to walk without fighting through a crowd getting their T-shirts. Using the same space but moving the food elsewhere would help

t-shirt

Waited 25 minutes for toilet, missed warmup

Weaving through the folks on the trip down--unavoidable

What’s not to like

When I fell and it was crowded
