A good race
a very friendly and well organized race
A wonderful race experience! The hard work is obvious - and don't let the people complain about the parking....hey, we're runners - did a walk up Ruxton ever kill anybody? Extra distance. Thank you for providing our lone opportunity this summer to get on the trail!
Above all else what stands out to me about this race is that it seems to keep caring long after it takes my entry fee. So many little touches (pre-race e-mails, opened gels, splits at lots of locations, giving back all that money, and on and on) just reconfirms my belief that this race cares about the runners and the sport of running. Well done and THANKS!
Another great race. It was very well-organized, fun, a great course, good competition and nice to see all kinds of runners participating.
Awesome race, once again
Awesome race. I'll bring my camera next year.
break out overall champions into separate awards. Since a majority of the runners are non elite, but contribute a majority of the funds, the awards should allow more recognition to more runners rather than just elite
Could you post the results in the park before the awards ceremony?
Did register, but not run, because of trip to Germany on short notice
EXCELLENT job of organizing and getting volunteers together. Everyone was extremely helpful and encouraging.
excellent race just mention gloves for us downhill rookies.
Excellent race!
Excellent Race. Well run, lots of fun.
For a beginner runner, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the race. I will be back next year.
good race
Good race over all and I had a wonderful time
Good race; thanks!
good run
Great distance--well managed overall
Great event, evident superior organization, loved the sponsor bennies
Great job - again!
Great job again, folks!
Great job and great sponsorship. Very impressed with everything.
Great job Matt and race committee.
Great job on putting this race together, if I am in town next year when the race is on, I will do it again (while cursing those that live in CO and have higher hemocrit levels then me)
Great Job to the race Director, organizers and the super volunteers. Luv those H.S. kids
GREAT race
Great race
Great race and a lot of fun. See you next year!
Great race and organization. Keep up the good work.
Great race and something I hope to be apart of again. The sponsors including the bank and all the donators including adidas are awesome and the volunteers were top notch!!
Great race and well organized and a lot of helpful and pleasant people...it was quite an experience. Might have been a little easier for me if the trail hadn't been closed for so long before the race cuz I was training on it regularly before it closed. I know this is not your doing so this is just a comment from a beginner. Thank you!
great race community spirit volunteers
great race!
Great Race!
Great race! Thanks!
GREAT RACE!!!
Great race, excellent organization. Great after race atmosphere. There was a great sense of camaraderie amongst the runners after the race. A great field of runners. Very competitive. Very cool awards for age group winners and post race prize drawings.
great race, well organized, finish line a little crowded - maybe have one of the gift bottles filled with liquid at the finish for the racers
Great race. Fun to be back on the mountain again. How about adding another mile to the race and finishing up down in Manitou like the round trip does. The finish line is not conducive to a comfortable "hanging around" place. I got my shirt and took off. Too hot, dusty and uncomfortable to spend any time in that area. The finish line downtown has always been great and that's where we all had to finish up anyway. I know it's complicated to close roads, etc. but it could be a better 13 mile race with a much better finish line conducive to runners and spectators. Check it out with others!
Great race. Nicely organized. Very nice atmosphere. Trail runners are as a group the nicest people around.
Great Race. very well organized, good cause.
GREAT RACE... FUN PEOPLE....
Had a great time (despite the heat), well organized, and did I mention that I LOVED the misters???
Had fun thanks
Have aid station volunteers hold out some gel so we don't have to ask and wait for them to find some. Great water misters at some of the aid stations. Generous food goodies at finish and awards ceremony! Enjoyed the good competition! Thanks to the aid station volunteers for ripping open the gels before giving them to us! Excellent atmosphere with financial contributions.
How about encouraging the aid stations to use more cowbells, or the like. It's a real boost to know that there is an aid station approaching. There need to be more toilets at this race. Last year was abysmal (Soda Springs and Cog railway locked), this year was bad. Otherwise, I really enjoy the race.
I am a coach for one of the teams working an aid station. What an incredible fund-raiser. We are very grateful for the opportunity we were given!!!
I am wondering if there is some way to allow people who's schedules change (prevents them from participating/allows them to participate) a way to enter the race.... Just a thought. I know it is complicated.
I answered the running questions because I was on course to check things out. Nance
I have been running for many years and this was one of the best organized races I have participated in. Good job!
I loved the race. It was my first time for me and my school and we loved it. It is a great race for training and building up the legs. Me and my team are ready for the cross country season now that we have conquered your mountain.
I noticed photographers at several locations on the course, were they for publicity or the runners.
I shouldn't have to fill out this form to see the results. This is bullshit.
I think there should be a way for people who know that they won't start to return their packet and transfer it to someone else.
I was a volunteer up at Barr Camp and enjoyed the experience of being on the other side of the race. It was exciting to see all the familiar runners who you usually are at the starting line with. It made me jazzed to run the race again next year!
I would do race next year, but will be in CA for a year for a temp business assignment.
I'd do it again, but I expect to move
I'll be back!
improve the shirt - better water refill system at aid stations - change the finish
It was a lot of fun.
it was fun. very well organized.
It would be nice to see porta-potties at Soda Springs Park (or wherever race morning packet pickup is).
July 14 is my birthday, so I wish I could have been there to run the race to celebrate. The Barr trail looks beautiful. I love running, mountain views, trails, and all running races; the Barr Trail Mountain Race is a perfect combo. Maybe I can try to figure out a way to make it there in 2003!
Just hoping to be there in 2003.
Keep it up.
Keep up the good work!
Keep up the great work!
Larry and the other organizers did a bang-up job. I'm sure it took a heap of effort and lots of personal time. thanks ! :) sorry i missed the drawing at the end.
Let's do it again.
like the fruit and nice food at the end in soda springs park--very nice and makes a difference
my first trail run, a god accomplishment
Nice job.
Nice unique age group awards
One of my favorite races!
One of the best run and friendliest races I've ever done. Just a lot of fun. I'll be back next year to try and break two hours.
Open Barr Trail not!!!! Tell the forestry service to take a flying leap off the top of PP.
Overall a great race. I was expecting mile markers though, just to give me a feel for how far I had come and how far yet to go. I guess the aid stations served that purpose.
Overall I love the mountain, I love the race, I think it's in it's infancy of great things to come. Thank-You everyone for all that you do!!
Overall, I thought it was a great race.
Please award the Zeb Pike awards, especially the "most improved". My son has improved immensely in the last year...about 30 minutes and it would have been nice for him to be in contention for such an award...plus they are fun awards, giving someone else a chance to win.
Put a couple portolets in the finish area in addition to the ones near the start.
Really liked the race. If I continue to run next year and only sign up for 1 race, this will be the one.
recommend to runners next year to wear gloves to protect your hands in case you fall on the downhill portion. Since I am new to trail racing, I was not aware but I have a nice gash to remind me.
See you next year.
So far it is the best race that I ran in Colorado... and I ran a lot of races;-)
some confusion over sweat check. i was sent to the start by a volunteer at soda springs. volunteer at start was reluctant (but nice) to let me stash my stuff--he said I should have gotten a bag at soda springs. couldn't find my stuff after the race.
start 1/2 hour earlier
Superb fun! Thanks Matt.
Thanks for a super time!!!
thanks for all the support and to the sponsors. A lot of work goes into these races.
Thanks for putting on a great race.
Thanks to all the volunteers! Also, I lost my sweat check bag. I could not find the sweat check station after the race. Please make it easier to find next year! If you still have my bag (#274), e-mail me it's location and I will come get it!
thanks to organizers, sponsors and volunteers
Thank-you to all of the volunteers and sponsors who supported us.
The last mile could have been posted, I had to ask someone how much farther the finish was.
The only reason I will likely miss next year's race is that it will be around the time of Hardrock, my favorite race. This year, HRH was canceled, allowing me to enter BMTR at the last minute. You have a great race! I love how you give back to the community. Also the way I see it, those 60-somethings are competing against all the people their age who fail to train and fail to show up on race day; in other words, all the people who don't run for whatever reason. Say you had three 70-year-olds and they finished within a few seconds of each other. How can you not reward all three? I don't think it's "unfair" to people who have more people in their age groups. I'm in a pretty competitive age group but wouldn't feel cheated at all if the fourth person of four in the 60-64 age group received an award and I didn't. Thanks for letting me voice my opinion.
The race was very well organized and I look forward to running it again next year.
This is a great race, but it is too bad the Hayman fire caused the closure of Pike National Forest and its effect on the Barr Trail. This is very useful training area for the Pikes Peak Ascent and marathon, and to not have access is a real negative. Otherwise, the race is very well run and the volunteers a welcome site at the finish line. The costumes certainly made it festive, as it should be.
This is a great race. The entry fee is low, the contributions to non-profits are exceptional, and yet it is exceptionally well organized and run. Thank you!
This is a terrific race. Well organized, competitive, well supported, and in a beautiful setting. Keep up the good work.
This is probably my favorite race. It is a great challenge, and a super job is done by all of the organizers and volunteers. Keep up the good work!
This race is awesome and will be on my calendar for years to come. I'm planning to tell all my friends about it.
This race is Excellent and is my 3rd favorite race!
This was my first trail race but I am hooked now. I will be doing more for sure
Very good race. Well organized and executed. I'll be back next year.
Very impressively organized race. My congratulations to the organizers.
very nice day for running
Very organized race, everyone was great!! A great deal for C.C. teams in the area.
Volunteer
Well organized and planned event
Well organized and very fun even though is was a difficult race.
Well organized race and it is so great and refreshing how much money we raise for good causes
Well organized race.
What a terrific experience! I just started running this year, so I'm just competing with myself. Although I was tortoise-like throughout, (and the last person to cross in under 3:30), there was so much support for other runners and volunteers, it really made a newbie feel great! I'll definitely keep this up. Only next time, a bit faster.
Would have liked to have run, but it filled up before I could
You absolutely nailed it! Very well run race. Thanks for the split times too, as I mistakenly cleared my watch. See you next year.
