What did you like least about the race: (147)

? It was a great experience!

6 miles up

Again, the age group awards (but that's probably because I'm bitter about missing out on a pair of much needed shoes). I guess I'll just have to train harder...

Almost biting it big time near the 10.5 mile aid station. But that was my fault. I was taking in the atmosphere and not paying attention to my footing. Really, everything about the race was great.

Awards ceremony dragged on, and on, and on...

Awards ceremony was a bit long.

Being so tired.

Can't think of a thing.

Can't think of anything.

Coming in 5th and not getting an award! Will work harder next year!!! :-)

Competition seemed less intense this year

Congested start. Perhaps I should have started farther forward, but I didn't know what to expect. Would like you to consider a wave-start, or starting at Soda Springs, so the mass of runners is strung-out before entering the trail.

Couldn't hear Larry (that's a switch =;)) at the start, perhaps he could be elevated or use a bull horn.

Couldn't hear the pre-race announcements at the start... might need a mike or bull horn or some type of voice assistance.

Crowded at start and would like to start 30 minutes earlier for heat.

cut off time race breakdown. many runners where still on the trail they deserve some support

everything was just fine

Fact that Barr Trail is still closed and I couldn't properly train.

Falling down.

Finish area. But I don't have any better suggestion. That last hill was tough, but tough is good. The finish area is just so ugly; no grass, no trees. But I understand why it is there, no road/lane closures required thus much easier to organize. I admit I like finish areas in parks. At least we have Soda Springs available for the awards, which is a great location.

From a truly spectating and assessing point of view, event went well. It was nice to see the event without being so involved to skew my opinion.

Getting about 0.5 miles from Barr Camp and running out of enough energy to get there faster.

Going down and getting bloody

going up hill

Hard to find a shady spot afterwards, until you waked down to Soda Springs Park

Hard to find packets

Hard to say. One of the best run races I have participated in.

Having to dodge runners coming down as I was going up. Had to be quick, but it worked out.

Heat

heat parking

hill at finish

Hot coming back. Would be nice to have it start earlier - but not sure how many people would share that opinion!

HOT!!!

How sick I felt after.

I didn't see any restrooms on the course. I know its not easy, but could we get one or two at least at the top.

I fell down on the downhill

I still hate running downhill. Next year, I'll do the ascent. It was too crowded at the start.

I thought the awards ceremony ran quite long and stared a little on the late side, but over all it was great.

It hurt. :-)

It was hot, but there's not much you can do about that. It would be a great fall race, but I know people are using it to train for the Ascent/Marathon.

It was too hot and the finish was weird running up the hill at the end.

lack of toilets

Lack of toilets, suffering on the descent.

Lack of training trails.

Lack of water coming down. The aid stations at Bob's Road and No Name Creek were nearly deserted and I was only able to grab one cup of water.

Length of awards ceremony.

long downhill

Losing to Kelly.

My finishing time! No, I thought the race finish was a bit congested. Some racers like to sprint across the finish line and the tag pullers were a bit close. Also, a lot of people congregated around the food, water, t-shirts, which were a bit close to the finish line.

my fitness

My performance! :-) Actually, it wasn't that bad. It was hot and I was glad the race started at 7 a.m.

My time!

My toe hitting the end of my shoe and losing my toenail.

n/a

Needed more aid stations.

no complaints

no complaints, really.

No complaints...

No mile markers!

No mile markers. Cramping calves. :|

no mile markers?

no negatives

not as many freebies afterwards as last year. could have a better post-race party atmosphere.

not being allowed to run on barr trail prior to the race

Not enough time allotted to finish.

Not having the course open to training.

Not wearing gloves which might be recommended fir first time downhill racers. Many of us are only ascent runners and don't "race" downhill. My lack of experience and no gloves and one fall caused me to spend most of Sat afternoon in a emergency room waiting in line to get cleaned up.

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

nothing

nothing

Nothing

nothing

Nothing

nothing

Nothing comes to mind. It's one of the best run races I have done.

Nothing that I can think of.

Nothing to dislike about the race other than it was hot coming back the mountain. Could feel the heat the last couple of miles.

Nothing, I had a very positive experience and will run again next year.

Nothing. The race was great

overtaking

pain

People passing you at narrow points causes accidents.

running down

running downhill too fast and losing 2 toenails

short distance to the finish line from the trail

Since I am a runner who almost always places somewhere I felt the top runners won too much stuff and too often. I think that the majority of runners who never win any thing are contributing to this race and would like to see the wealth spread around. I think that fairly the top 5 runners should be excluded from age divisions and masters.

Slow early going thru switchbacks

So shade whatsoever at the finish. I know it's an added expense but some sort of shade tent would be nice.

Sprained my ankle

Spraining my ankle, no really everything was good

Starting at cog rail caused congestion on the steepest section. But, why change an otherwise perfect venue.

Sweat check - I was worried that anyone could have collected my stuff since no-one was checking race numbers against checked gear.

The !#*!@$! finish up Hydro when I was at the door of death! What a cruel twist! And then very little of that area had shade.

The "finishers" t-shirt! That has been my major objection to this race from the beginning. I strongly believe that ANYONE who pays an entry fee should get a t-shirt, regardless of how fast, how slow, or whether they run the race at all. It should be up to each individual whether they wear a t-shirt from a race they didn't run, and I would think it's more advertising for the race and sponsors to have as many people wearing these t-shirts as possible. Not to mention it's a pain to have to carry it around after the race! PLEASE consider changing this!!!!!

the 6 people ahead of me!

the body aches after the race.

the challenge

The challenge :)

The challenge of Barr trail

The combining of the overall winners with age group winners. Overall winners appeared to 'walk' with all the prizes..

The down hill segment was very tough on my body.

The downhill. I am an uphill runner. Also, I like "share the wealth" awards instead of the same person getting 3 awards. But I know this is supposed to be an "elite" race.

The fact that the course was closed for training for several weeks before the race.

The finish line. Dusty & hot!

The finish was screwed up, why not have it moved. You could move the start line back a few yards and have the race finish on the street and not going freaking uphill! Plus walking past finishers is a nuisance

the heat

the heat

The heat by 9:30

The heat coming down the lower part of trail

The heat, could you make it a little cooler and overcast next year?

the heat, my time--guess there is nothing you can do about that

The heat. Could you do something about that next year? ;-) Oh, and the guy who was running in about 4th or 5th place on the way down who thought it necessary to scream at somebody he thought didn't yield enough trail to him.

The heat. Oh well!

The Heat......I know there is nothing that can be done about it.....Only think I could think of.

The lack of shade at the finish area. If availability permits, one or two more EMTs at the finish area (those 3 guys there were very overtaxed).

The pain but hey that's why you run right?

The pain. ;)

The placement of the start. I'd rather start down near Soda Springs Park because when you start near the Cog - wow - you need to go from like zero to 60 too fast up that first big hill.

The race organizers should educate the runners to exercise courtesy towards other runners: always run on the right side of the trail so people can pass you without a hassle, second, make room for downhill runners, don't impede them especially on the steeper sections.

The sore legs afterwards

The sore quads! Too little downhill practice.

the trail seemed soft

The uphill run to the finish line

The Uphill running to be quite honest!

The uphills

There needs to be some form of aid as far as medical attention at finish line-- Need cold drinks at awards area

There was nothing not to like about the race. It was ALL good!

There wasn't anything

They didn't have most improved award as well as other awards like youngest, oldest, etc. I would have received the Most improved this year. 29:50

Thought the trail was in bad shape in places.

to crowded at start

Too crowded at the beginning with walkers. Suggest having walkers start at the back.

trail too narrow to pass

uphill finish on Hydro

uphill finish on Hydro

Very little shade at the finish. It was hot!

very steep

Wanted to see results faster.

wish you'd had some sort of barr at the end like last year --phils bar or some other bar would be nice.

Would be nice if there was a shuttle to start/finish area for spectators.

Would like the overall winners and master's winners unable to take age division awards, give other runners a chance to be recognized for a competitive time. You see the same people picking up all the awards.

would rather see it start earlier than 7 am when the weather's so hot. maybe 6 or 630.

Would you please tell the weather to be a little cooler for next year. Thanks....

You know, the t-shirt!
