What did you like most about the race: (163)

A good race

A unique year with the trail being closed. I think everyone was delighted to get a chance on the mountain. The professional look with the adidas apparel, the checks from PP National Bank worked well. Great idea to have the winners say a few words.

A well marked course with great aid stations and a competitive field!

Able to run Barr trail again and everything was well organized.

Aid station enthusiasm

Different than any other race I have done. Well organized and alot of funI have

energetic volunteers

everything

Everything

Everything

everything

everything

Everything was coordinated well.

Everything was so well organized it's hard to pick just one, but I'd have to say the web site was a blessing. I found so much that was both informative and fun.

everything!! well run race

Excellent course and organization. Only thing I don't like is the length of the awards ceremony.

finishing

finishing it

Finishing!

Finishing!! Loved running in the mountains. Had been a road runner before signing up and training for this race. It was the most fun I've ever had exercising!

Finishing, of course -- its a great equalizer, compared to road-racing. Running on a trail at altitude is the best part.

finishing:)

Friendly race officials and people who just know how to run a race!

Fun aid stations

Getting back on Barr Trail.

Getting back on the mountain! The prestige of "conquering" Pike's Peak

getting high schoolers involved

Getting on Barr Trail again.

Getting on the Barr Trail!

Getting on the mountain and racing Kelly Lusk.

Getting some time on Barr trail to prepare for the Ascent.

Going down the hill, not the up hill and my place of finish.

Going home tired

Great idea to give money back to community and cross country teams

Great organization, good aid stations and outstanding sponsors. This is my first year and it's already my favorite race.

Great route, great people, tons of fun

Great terrain, great support, nice length with just enough challenge and not a huge amount of pain (like the PPM)

Hey, it's Barr trail.

high school crew at barr camp

How the race proceeds are given back to the community.

I got to run on Barr Trail again!!

i like running on Barr Trail!

I like the distance and the fact that it takes more than 1 skill to run it. You have to be able to run both up and down the hill. It's cool to see who's winning at the start of the down hill, compared with who actually won the race.

I liked the challenge, the nice people and the atmosphere.

I liked the competition and the attitude of all the runners....everyone was so pleasant and helpful

I love the challenge! I am just an average running mom who loves running trails, especially downhill. It is a great challenge for me to just finish the race before the cutoff. Also, the runners, and volunteers are all so encouraging and friendly.

It is the Peak, what else do you need?

It is very well marked & supported. Great and fast group of runners Fun for kids

It is very well organized, and still maintains a local 'small race' feel.

It is well organized and ran.

It was a blast.

It was a good distance for me and the out and back course works better than the ascent

It was fun! It was a great workout .

It was just so great to be on Barr Trail.

It was the hardest race I've ever run, and yet I managed to finish.

It's size, distance and organization. It's a great race. And this year --a chance to get on barr trail!!

its small, fun and well supported

It's well organized, great prizes, and I like where the money goes.

Just being on the mountain again. Sure miss it!

Local and inexpensive.

lots of fun people, great trail, it's a great race !

Lots of local competitors. Friendly feel. Exciting finish location.

Mostly the attitude. Everyone was very friendly -- race officials, aid station workers and the runners. This was a low keyed race and everyone was out there to enjoy themselves.

My favorite part of the race ws the decent. I had tons of energy and it felt great. The views are also beautiful.

Nice setting to have a mountain trail race. Was nice to have the aid station staff cheering you on and keeping you going. Nice to chat with other runners that I hadn't seen in awhile.

Nice trail, very well organized!

Organization. So many nice things about running this race, from aid stations to the multiple splits recorded, its just all really very well put together. And it helps good causes.

pain

Perfect distance, good amount of aid stations

Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak.

Running on Barr Trail.

Running on the Barr Trail, Pike Peak, race support.

Running on the mountain and talking to the other runners and the local runners.

running up

Seeing all my racing peers, and the friendly competition.

Seemed very well organized

That we could be one Barr Trail again.

The aid stations and the course. The misters at the aid stations were great and I liked the difficulty of the course. Tough start, then a little easier and fun the whole way down.

The aid stations. Everyone had great enthusiasm. I also loved the out and back of the race. I like seeing the winners while they run.

The aide stations, the locations of them, and the depth of awards.

the camaraderie among the runners. Unlike the Pikes Peak Ascent, the runners here talk to one another

The challenge

the challenge

the challenge and the people, both participants and volunteers were excellent, very friendly.

The challenge of Barr trail

the challenge of it

The challenge.

The chance to calibrate my ability.

The competitive field on a beautiful course (opps, that's two things)

the competitive field!

the course

The course and aid stations.

The course! Also, the awards...they were exceptional.

the course, the organization

The course.

The encouragement from other runners and aid stations.

The entertainment along the way, the misters, and the cheering/encouraging people along the route.

The enthusiastic support from the High School aid stations. However, there are many things I liked about the race, it is hard to pick one.

the finish line!

The girls

The idea about the h.s. teams sponsoring aid stations in order to get $$ donated for their programs is the greatest idea! Not only does it help support the local schools but it encourages kids to get involved in trail running and to be a part of a community event.

The marketing is really superb. From the $15 first day entry fee (to generate mass enthusiasm), to the excellent sponsorship, the great website, the "aid station" contest, the charitable giving, and more, this was one of the best-run midsize races I've been privileged to be part of.

The organization, community involvement of sponsors.

The over all atmosphere and that is was run so efficiently.

The pain.

the people

The people, the mountain, the trail ... it was a great race!

The race course.

The race was well organized and anytime you can run on that trail makes it a good day!

the runners and support crew and where the donations were distributed and the prizes......

The tough nature of the run and the professional set up at the end.

The trail of course. Next, the web site, that's why I'm here filling out a survey!

The trail, distance, well organized

the training for the peak

The turn around at Barr Camp was awesome.

The uphill portion of the race. It was a great challenge. Also, that close-up view of Pikes Peak was awesome. Great course.

The vertical challenge. That volunteers yelled out time and position.

the volunteers

the water stations & the wet sponges

tiki guys and girls

trail

t-shirt

Two things stand out: The race has a super "feel" to it (As someone bought up on road and track races, that are treated very seriously, it is refreshing to have the trail atmosphere). Secondly, What a great idea to have the kids out there manning the aide stations. They get better, and are more fun every year. And what an incentive to do well!!

Very well organized and generous in the winnings.

Very well organized.

Very well organized. Great sponsorship. Barr trail!

water breaks where real supportive

Well organized, and great aid station encouragement.

well organized, nice people

well organized, well supported

well organized.

well run, on time, great people, great prizes, great recognition of participants, sponsors and volunteers, and most of all fantastic job of donating all proceeds

winning my division and generous awards

Wonderful support from runners, aid stations, and everyone associated with the race!
