What did you like least about the race: (158)

.75 mile walk to/from start/finish

Although logistically I understand why it was this way, I felt like the finish line area was cramped up. It was packed enough by the time I got there that it felt crowded. Also, if first aid was available, I must have missed it.... (I only had a blister, but I'd be concerned for folks who'd taken a spill, were dizzy, etc.)

Any day that you can race in the mountains it is a great day.

At the end, the portapotties were way down that hill. Also, it was a long, long walk back to cars after a long race.

Award ceremony probably could have been held a little earlier

Award ceremony was way too long

Awards ceremony not starting until 12 noon.

Awards ceremony too late

Awards ceremony was way too long

Awards Ceremony

Calling out personal info (my age) as I ran through the finish line

Cannot think of any negatives

Can't say there was anything to knock

Can't think of anything at the moment

Can't think of anything.

Can't think of much. Need more than 3 port-o-lets at the Cog.

Ceremony too long after finish

Competition was brutal. I usually am about in the 50% bracket for the race, my age, and my sex. I finished 10/13 for age, 156/176 for males. Not that I am complaining, but was humbling for me.

Crowded on first trail

Dealing with the stragglers, and the length of the awards presentation.

DIDN'T WIN A DAMN THING!!!!!!!!!!!

Dogs roaming free.

Downhill, but that's a personal problem :) Wait for the awards and lengthy award process. Awards/wait/lottery. Maybe it is a good idea to do a pre-lottery for bulk of the prizes except for the real good prizes.

Every thing went real nice

Everything was good

Everything was great

Everything was great

Falling and scraping both Knees! Could you remove some of the rocks? I hate concentrating for so long! ;-)

Falling down

Falling down

Finishing up that horrid hill

First 11.99 miles

Forcing this survey on us so we can get timely results

Getting up at 3am to drive to Colorado Springs but not much you can do about that...

Going down

Having to finish on an artificial surface, especially the downhill portion just before the final uphill.

Having to pass people who went out faster than me and were walking in the middle of the path even before the first mile.

Having to wait until noon for the award ceremony.

Heat

Hills Ha Ha

Hmmmm. I thought it came off very well. More portapotties at the start would be nice. The finish was very very wicked -- I appreciated that. If you could do away with the diesel from those trains at the start line, that'd be swell, but I realize that is probably beyond your control.

hyper-extended my right knee just above No Name Creek which affected my downhill time

I came in nearly last despite intense training (just kidding that's my own problem)

I cannot think of anything I disliked about the race.

I didn't do it

I didn't win (just kidding)

I disliked the crowded start at the beginning of the race.

I enjoyed all aspects of the race

I guess the finish

I hate uphill races

I hated being way at the end. It was a talented group of runners. Oh well, I did OK for me. You only gave out one prize in my age group and, of course, I didn't win it. Oh well.

I liked everything.

I liked it except for my fall on the downhill

I liked the concept of a tune-up race for the PPA/M however it is too close. If you have a great BTMR then you are set but if you have a bad race there is not enough time left to make adjustments. I know I learned enough that I wish I had time to make some adjustments.

I loved all aspects

I prefer less people in the race.

I thought everything was fine.

I wasn't crazy about finishing up hill. That was quite a shock after running the entire second half of the race downhill.

I wasn't crazy about the shirt. Maybe have something else other than a t-shirt (hats, towels, water bottles, ...). Also, move the food away from the finish line a little.

I'm a terrible down hill runner!

It was all good. But I guess the finish area was a little crowded and no real good place to sit down afterwards. I know there are limited finish line options but right next to the power station was sort of ugly. It's a shame that with so much beautiful area around, we couldn't mill around in a nicer area.

It was all great! Good job!

Lack of first aid on trail. Saw a bad fall not far from last aid station and no one their was qualified as a first aid provider

Length of awards

Limited number who can participate. This could be one of the most exciting races around due to the challenge, the terrain, the great organization of volunteers and facilities, that there is prize money, it's a doable distance, it's a great preview of how one's marathon training is doing. How can there be more participation opportunities? I'm planning on writing up the race for the Buffalo Enquirer (the publication of the Buffalo Chips of Sacramento, California) and perhaps Runner's World will pick it up as well. It is truly a unique, admirable and fierce effort on the part of both the runners and the organizers, so it would be sad if the race is filled in a matter of hours next year. You may want to do a series (yes, I know you poured your entire life into this premiere effort, but next year you won't have to start from zero) of Barr Trail Mountain Races in the time slot prior to the August Ascent/Marathon. It doesn't get any better than this and to enable so few people to participate is sad.

Long awards ceremony

Long wait for the awards and then a LONG award ceremony

Losing to Rick and Dave Peak I thought the support team at Barr Camp got the shaft. No one knew they had been there all night, or thought about how much crap they had to carry out. That site should get extra money just for being there.

Missing water at No Name Creek because the volunteers held back and "withheld" the cup. (Due to reticence and timidity) I had to work on swallowing the gel I had taken just before for a long time

More and/or more identifiable medical support at finish. Bagels were stale. Soda Springs park bathrooms were dirty

My heel blister sustained on downhill portion.

My performance

My shoes

My sore quads

My time.

Narrow trail in places made it hard to pass. Would prefer a Saturday race.

Need a better flatter place to congregate at the finish. It was a good scene

Need some port-o-potties at Soda Springs and at the Start/Finish.

Need to do a little better job alerting the hikers and dog-walkers about the race for safety's sake. Suggestion: Put out signs at the trail head and parking areas advertising the race the weekend before so that people can adjust their plans and use an alternative trail. Pet owners that comply with the leash law are no less hazardous than loose dogs as you do not know where the dog may dodge, with or without his "trip cord."

No ascent only! Downhills are hard on bad knees.

No complaints.

No complaints

No complaints

No magic marker at the start for the drop bags. That is pretty good, if that is all I thought went wrong!!!

No mile markers.

No negative comments

No one would let me borrow their knees.

None

Not enough bathrooms

Not enough toilets.

Not enough toilets

Nothing in particular.

Nothing on the run. Just the toilet

Nothing really to complain about...

Nothing really

Nothing. First class job

Ok

Only minor point I can think of is that their should have been a course marshal at the major trail intersection about half way back down. I had never been on Barr Trail before, and I almost took this major fork off to the left.

Overall winners took the age group awards.

Port-a-pot anxiety

Pounding going down :-)

Probably the T-shirt, I've got too many, how about a tank top next yr?

Problems with the downhill portion

Realizing that I could not and would not run "down" at a suicidal pace- I lost over 5 minutes (falling to 21st overall) to the 45-49 age winner (9th overall) going down even though I had him beaten easily to Barr Camp. Also, the finish shoot did not allow for enough slow down before the volunteers were grabbing for my number- I think they should be at the end of the shoot and not towards the finish line- just hard to stop so suddenly. Had same problem at GOG 10 miler.

Restrooms AND parking

Running downhill

Shortage of Port-a-potties. Even a couple at the registration area would have been nice.

Sore quads! Och! But as Jock Semple used say about Mount Washington, "Do nah worry laddie, there's only one hill!!"

Standing in line for a port a potty just before the race started.

Starting so close to the steep hill. no time to get in a groove.

Steep hill at end of race ;-)

Steep paved downhill on Ruxton

The 1/2 mile before Barr Camp

The announcer guy was a bit grating

The arrogant announcer at the awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony was just way too long and did not run very smooth at all. I thought the trophies were kind of cheesy.

The COG diesel exhaust at the start. (Pretty minor. I'm somewhat biased, remember.)

The delay between the end of the race and the awards.

The downhill :)

The downhill, I prefer to run uphill

The downhill. Due to Alicia's situation - could have had better aid at the end of the race.

The downhill.

The fact that I was inundated with questions at the finish line. I don't really think there is much else to do, but I wasn't prepared for that.

The first 2 miles! Also I felt that more potties were needed.

The hill at he finish. But I wouldn't change it. A better challenge for next year.

The hills ;-)

The last 100 yards of downhill pavement.

The last hill.

The line was long for the bathrooms

The long awards process

The mountain

The next day

The time it took to do the prize drawings.

The uphill at the end of the race

The uphill and flat sections coming back down. My knees don't like any uphills. But what can you do.

The uphill--ha!

The wait until the awards ceremony started.

The women's restroom at Soda Springs was a mess with one of the two stalls unusable prior to the rest. Fortunately, they cleaned the bathroom during the race & it was in good condition afterwards.

There was nothing not to like

There weren't enough port-o-potties at the start, and I had to GO!

Though I finished ahead of a woman (in my age group)in the official results she was two seconds ahead of me

Too crowded at the start. Should start in Manitou, like the Ascent

Too few port-a-johns

Too hot but that was not your doing

Too large of field

Up hill

Uphill and no oxygen.

Uphill

Uphill!

Walking to the race start and a lack of knowledge about restroom locations

Zebulon was a little over zealous about crowd control and cell phones at the awards ceremony. The awards is a great time to mingle and meet other runners, sure we need to recognize the winners but this is not the Olympics!
