Race No Shows 79 or 18.0% of the 440 registrants did not show. Of those 79: 79 or 100% registered more than 1 month before the race 8 or 10.1% were out of state Awards No Shows 108 award winners (83 age-group, top 3 m / top 2 f grand masters, top 3 m/f masters, top 3 m/f overall, 8 prime) were called to the stage. Of those: 97 or 89.8% were present to get their award 11 or 10.2% did not show to get their award

High School Aid Station Challenge
Congratulations to Widefield at No Name Creek who was the $2,250 Challenge winner this year. They dressed up as waiters and served us well.

2nd place and $1,500 went to Palmer at Barr Camp.
Manitou at Bobs Road and Cheyenne Mtn at the start/finish tied for 3rd (a first in 9 years) so split the combined $1,000/$750 to get $875 each.
5th place and $500 went to Coronado at the Incline.

Fundraising
Breakdown of the money the 2008 Barr Trail Mountain Race raised and donated:
Friends of the Peak: $6,738.05
El Paso County Search and Rescue: $6,355.05
The six high schools: $6,000
Trails and Open Space Coalition: $500
Total donations: $19,593.10 or $44.53 per registrant, $55.82 per finisher!

Great sponsors made this possible because the average entry fee was only $22.78 bringing in $10,023, all of which was donated, and yet there were many expenses with T-shirts alone costing about $4,000 along with $3,200 in prize money and primes, $575.27 for finisher medals and $465 for pizza.
