Emma Rides Again!
Its that time of year and Emmas coming back to town so stick around after your run for the Emma Crawford Coffin Race!
Emma Crawford was a resident of Manitou who died
in the late 19th century. She was buried on top of a hill in town, but rainwater washed her down to the bottom
sometime after her internment. She came racing down that hillside and crashed at the bottom... hence the idea
for the Emma Crawford Coffin Race. A blast for the whole family!
Mineral Springs Foundation
Founded in 1987, the Mineral Springs Foundation is a non-profit 501C3 organization whose mission is to restore, protect, and publicize the mineral springs of Manitou Springs and to document their historic origins.
To date, the Mineral Springs Foundation, in cooperation with the City of Manitou Springs, private individuals and numerous organizations (including this race) have restored a number of the springs to their original splendor. You can find more information here.
Manitou Springs
Hidden between the Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak lies the magical town of Manitou Springs.
Long before white men traveled here, the Ute, Cheyenne and many other natives considered this area sacred. Manitou,
a Native American word for spirit, describes our beautiful mountain community. For more information head to www.manitousprings.org or call the
Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-642-2567.
