Giving Back to the Community
The BTMR is not one of those “portion of proceeds” gimmick races! Instead All of the race entry fees (yes, 100%) are donated to area non-profit/volunteer organizations. This is possible thanks to our great sponsors!

2008 Entry Fee Beneficiaries
Search and Rescue50% - El Paso County Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit organization. They never charge for their services and yet they incur enormous expenses related to the missions they serve on. Some of those missions involve saving runner’s from mountain trails! They also provide race support for several races including the this one and the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon.

Friends of the Peak50% - Friends of The Peak is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and restoring Pikes Peak. Specifically FOTP concerns itself with the health of the ecosystems on the Pikes Peak massif and turns that commitment into action. They also build and maintain the trails on and around Pikes Peak—including the Barr Trail!

Yes, that’s 100% of your entry fee going to these organizations – Find out how!

Barr Trail Mountain Race Runners Entry Limit
The quality of your race experience is more important to us than the number of runners we register. After each year’s race we use surveys to determine if we have the entry limit set at a number that is low enough to allow you to run a race that is not impeded by other runners while at the same time allows enough runners that you are pushed to do your best. The current limit is 425. A few spots beyond the entry limit may be given to those with outstanding running bios.
